Oda revealed Brook’s homeland, the creator of Binks’ Sake, & the connection between Brook & Gunko in One Piece Chapter 1183…but why now??
Usopp clearly understood that Brook has some sort of connection to Gunko. This conversation was great because Brook is in turmoil. He is unable to give a clear answer as to whether Gunko is friend or foe.
Brook sees Gunko as having three different personalities, her original, the one who saved them, and demon form. However, I think the original & the one who saved them are the same personality. It has been 70 years since Brook last saw Gunko so I think she just grew up.

Brook further hints that Gunko was Domi Reversi when she was 7. Back in chapter 1173, Brook calls her a father-killer & in this chapter, he begins to ponder if she really did kill her father now that he has seen Domi Reversi.
I do not believe this is merely a coincidence that we are learning Brook & Gunko’s backstory alongside Imu saying the name “Dozan”, but I’ll return to this at the end of this post.

Because I want to talk more about Brook explaining his thought process seeing Gunko. You can see it in the way he talks & his expressions are they he is so conflict with all of this information. He is so distraught that even Jinbe dives in to directly ask if they are sparing or killing Gunko because they cannot just leave her be.
Brook unable to answer, he tries to help us understand inability to decide by telling us his connection to Gunko. He seems to be a Raider Captain of Esperia also know as ‘Humming’ Brook & it appears that he enjoys spending his time with Gunko, the princess of Esperia & singing about sexy mermaids at 4AM.

Strangely enough, the more I look at this song. It aligns so directly to Binks’ Sake. It really makes me ponder if Brook is the creator of Binks’ Sake. Not only was he the first character in the story to sing Binks Sake, but in this chapter, the narrator describes Brook’s music as widely disliked.
It would be kind of a perfect fit if Brook being the Soul King & Binks Sake being widely beloved by pirate for him to have alter his original Binks Sake song to something that is more fitting for a pirate.
Just look at how similar some of this lyrics are!
“We’ll deliver Binks Sake” & “Going to deliver Bink’s Sake”
“As the birds fly in the sky” & “The birds sing as they draw circles in the sky”

Of course, that isn’t the only thing being revealed being we meet the King & Queen of Esperia. The king looks like a mob boss, it is strange for not only Brook to accidently not call him King, but to also referring to Brook’s position as a “Raider Captain”
We also see a group of classic Italian-style mafia dudes showing up on the island to attempt to steal the queen away, but in quick Brook fashion. He already sliced them up before they even realized it.
And before I forget, the queen of Candel is so freakin’ cool! She is formerly commander of the Royal Guard & is currently an opera singer. She was also said to be one of the two most famous people on the island, the second being Brook. Her outfit reminds me a lot of Shamrock for all his glamourous outfit.

The strange thing about all of this is what happened with Candel. It is clear that she probably taught Brook all he knows. However, we only learn about Gunko killing her father. So then what happened to her mother?
When Imu shouted Loki & Luffy’s names, which he said their actual names not just Joy Boy & Nidhogg. He also said the word “Dozan”.

I’m wondering if Dozan has some sort of connection to Esperia? There must be a reason why Gunko was taking from her homeland & why Imu had to intervene in this abduction. Does he just like girls with blue hair? Or is there something deeper?
Also kind of wild that Brook does the Joy Boy pose.
