2025 is another wonderful time of games, manga, anime, movies, and TV! Not everything on these list came out this year, but they are ones that I enjoyed this year!
Not all of these are in order of best to worst, but the #1 are my #1s.
Anime / Manga
- Hunter x Hunter: I love Hunter x Hunter, Togashi is truly a treasure. Every arc becomes better than the last. His characters & stories are truly incredible worth experiencing. I cannot wait to read more!
- One Piece: I love & will continue to love One Piece! The manga & anime are hitting on all cylinders! Incredible!!
- The Medalist: Ice Skating is really cool & to tell such a beautiful story about training someone who has a passion for ice skating. I love this!
- One Piece: Stampede: This year I watched all the One Piece movies. Stampede being one of my favorites for the incredible amount of wild references & character teamups.
- One Piece: Film Z: Is my favorite One Piece movie, Zephyr as a villain was awesome. I loved every moment he was on screen. He might just be one of my favorite characters in One Piece, which is saying something since that guy isn’t canon.
- One Piece: Baron Omatsuri: This is one of the older One Piece movies, but the animation style & story telling are so uniquely this film. This is unlike anything we have seen from One Piece or its movies. And I love it, a very unique animated & dark story being told.
Movies / TV
- The Naked Gun: Absolutely hilarious movie, I hope to see more comedies like this in the future.
- Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle: Peak cinema, absolutely what an enjoyable movie to watch in theatres! H O L Y!!
- Superman: I never really cared for Superman until I watched this movie. I love how kind & caring of a character Superman is!
- How to Train Your Dragon (Live Action): I have never seen the original How to Train Your Dragon & I definitely missed out because this is such an incredible movie. The stress & anxiety I felt for Toothless is something I never felt in a movie. I felt like I was watching real animal abuse in some of those scenes with Toothless. In fact, I never want to watch any more How to Train Your Dragon movies because I don’t want to go through that again, haha.
- Mission Impossible Final Reckoning: I love Mission Impossible movies, my father introduced me to this series & I love every single bit of it! Final Reckoning might not be the best one, but I loved it!
- The Phoenician Scheme: I never watched a Wes Anderson film. I don’t understanding anything happening in this movie, but I enjoyed it a lot.
- Thunderbolts*: LOVE THIS MOVIE! What an awesome cast of misfits to fall in love with.
- Squid Games: I hated Season 1 of Squid Games, but the teaser at the end of Season 1 about stopping the Squid Games really got me interested in Season 2 & Season 3. I found them to be really fun even if the ending was eye-rolling.
- The Fantastic Four: It’s dumb fun, enjoyed what I watched!
- Materialists: It was a fun movie, I liked it!
- Sinners: I love Sinners, but I just didn’t enjoy how it all lead to a uninteresting action sequence at the end. I also didn’t realize that Michael B Jordan characters were not the main character, but it felt like so much of the film focused on them.
- Mickey 17: This is a bad movie, but it was also dumb fun & I enjoyed it for that!
Games
- Wanderstop: A beautiful game about burnout.
- Marvel Rivals: Once again, I love Marvel Rivals same as from 2024. It’s very good.
- Expedition 33: Truly a remarkable game incredible voice acting, stunning visuals, wonderful story, a really engaging combat system, and a modern game that also feels like it was ripped from a PS1 JRPG world. Love every aspect of it!
- Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Remastered: It’s the best Elder Scrolls game, but even better. I probably spent thousands of hours back in High School on the original game.
- Peak: This is goofy dumb fun with friends. Really enjoyed the time I spent playing this with friends!
- The Bleakest Keep: Super cool roguelike, read more about it here:
- Word Play: A fun word puzzle game!
- Umamusume: This game got me in to horse racing, I love this game so much! I wrote more about it here:
- Genshin Impact: Natlan: After a long hiatus of just being burned out by Genshin, I return with a new found love of it. Natlan is really incredible! I wrote more about my experience here
- Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time: This was a game on a whim I recommended to my girlfriend because it seems to align with her interests & she has spent hundreds of hours in it. This might be one of her favorite games & I love this game because not only is it a ton of fun, but I am able to play alongside her as well!
- Mouthwashing: I thought this was just going to be a fun PS1 horror game, but the incredibly thoughtful deep storytelling really makes this game special.
- Emet’s Quest: This is a game you will never get to play. It was a fun birthday gift to my girl about her saving our cats. I had a lot of fun making it!
- Final Fantasy 9: A truly remarkable Final Fantasy game, this might just be my favorite one. Please check out more of my thoughts here.
- Lies of P Overture: Lies of P is one of my favorite games of all time. It is also the best Souls-anything type of game. I love the atmosphere, music, storytelling, and combat so much! Overture really builds upon every aspect of the base game & is truly a remarkable expansion.
- Khazan: One of the greatest action games out there, awesome visuals, incredible boss fights, really dope weapons! I love Khazan so much that I had to 100% it, which is something I don’t do anymore for most games I play.
- Metroid Prime 4: They finally released this game & although it might not be better than the original. Metroid Prime 4 really feels like Metroid Prime. They did not skip a beat. The music, gameplay, and environments feel Metroid & am really happy they were able to nail it.
- Wildgate: This is one of my favorite multiplayer games. You and a few other players are on a ship competing against other spaceships to find the Artifact. What I love a lot about this game is getting into combat with other players where while spaceships are shooting at each other. Some of us will try to board an enemy ship & take down the players inside it. Very very cool!
- Pseudoregalia: Is a really special game, it is a 3D platformer where you are unlocking skills that will help you explore more of this massive castle. However, what I love about this game is that the movement mechanics are so refined that I found myself getting into places I should not be because of my weird movement setup to get around not having a certain mechanic. This game is a lot of fun!
