Emma Frost Thick Thighs
Let’s dive into the Emma Frost trailer. I’ve seen this trailer twice today & she is just gorgeous. She even chokeslams the camera in her trailer! Marvel Rivals has some of the best character designs in the game. I have played over 149 hours of Marvel Rivals and still enjoy it so much! Even during my excitement for Overwatch, I don’t think I played more than 20 hours & even then I only played a couple of characters. In Marvel Rivals, I play most the roster. My favorite classes are Vanguards, which are essentially the tanks & since Emma Frost is a Vanguard. It is just cool to see her command presence in every fight.
Emma Frost’s animations are absolutely in-freaking-sane. In fact, you go back here. Where is it? I just need you to… We’re going to zoom in here. You see this? Let me just slow it down for you a little bit. Let me just slow it down for you a little bit. Look at this. This is so… Look at this. Holy… It’s so crazy. I cannot believe that we are feasting. Marvel Rivals fans are absolutely feasting. I’m so grateful that we get such amazing characters in Marvel Rivals.
I just love how this game is full of hot characters. This game is absolutely freaking fantastic. I wasn’t going to plan to talk about this, but once I saw Emma Frost, I had to say something. Also Emma Frost has an alternative skin that you can purchase and it is even more revealing. It is insane!
We are feasting! Holy! Oh my god, I can’t believe this. This is better than the Malice skin for Invisible Woman. It is crazy, man. Bravo, bravo. I cannot wait. 10 out of 10.
Nintendo Pricing
Now I expected the Nintendo Switch 2 to be around 500 USD. I have been saving money every paycheck to save up for the Switch 2. So it was great to learn that was it $50 less than what I expected; however, due to Trump’s tariffs, Nintendo has begun moving manufacturing from China to Cambodia & Vietnam to avoid high tariff fees. Source. So I am expecting this as a way to avoid increasing the price on the console.
According to the Financial Times, the issue is that the tariffs that were put in place just yesterday, well, increased the tariff costs by an extra 46%. And Cambodia by an extra 49%. In fact, if they stayed in China, it would have been a lot less. The issue is that we don’t know what Nintendo was thinking at this time. We don’t know whether they made the console $449 because it was like, hey, we’re not going to be running at a loss because we’re kind of counting for tariffs to be included in this, but also being greedy so that we don’t have to like, lower the price of the console when the tariff situation is done with.
However, now with this spontaneous tariff drop, we may just not see a Switch 2 at $449. I am not sure. Who knows how much of a loss Nintendo will take from this hit. I say this because if you ever bought a GPU for a computer at all, NVIDIA will say like, hey, this is our MSRP. And you never, ever see that MSRP. So I’m worried because they’re saying and this, this always shows up. They always show the actual price may vary. This always happens in everything. But now is more worrisome because well, Nintendo is now being taxed up everything?
Nintendo also announced delaying US pre-orders because of tariffs & pricing. According IGN, they got a statement from Nintendo that states about the potential impact of tariffs and they have postponed the pre order start date of April 9th, which is concerning because they are not sure like you don’t just postpone something unless you’re like the price may potentially change or we may potentially figure something else out. Now, they’re still saying June is the release date, but we may not be getting a Switch that costs $450.
Now Mario Kart World was also announced at $80. This is insane. If this wasn’t a $30 discount as a part of the Nintendo Switch bundle, I would not pay this much for a game. Absolutely not. This is the first time where a video game publisher has decided games will cost $80. According to Game Informer, they spoke to Nintendo & was able to get confirmation that Tears of the Kingdom will be $70 on Switch 2. This game came out over two years ago! Nintendo does mention that pricing is based on a case by case basis, but when Nintendo is selling Welcome Tour, which is just a Switch 2 Tutorial. I worry for the future of game pricing.
Donkey Kong Bonanza is also $70 & I was so excited for this game, but not very many people can afford this. This is not like a fun, affordable hobby anymore. This is why people go to free to play, is they want an opportunity to play really cool, high quality games. But they are being priced out of it constantly. It’s not like the economy is getting better. It’s not like people wages are getting better. It’s just that the games are getting more expensive.
And like, I honestly, I was so excited to play this game. But at this price point, I’m like, I have to skip it. I like I’m just straight up skipping this game, you know, and we even get some more news. So we learn that some games will have free upgrades, right? This was something that they did not announce. They did not announce that the games were getting free upgrades. What they announced was that games are going to be having basically upgrade packs. These upgrade packs would cost money. Now there are rumors that some of the upgrade packs will cost about 20 extra dollars. So let’s say you spent $60 on Kirby and you want to unlock the new story mode, you’ll pay an additional $20, which is just insane.
Luckily, if you do have the Nintendo Switch Online, you do actually get some of the packs for free. They say Nintendo Switch Online expansion members get access to the following packs at no additional cost, but it just shows both Zelda games. It doesn’t show all of these games that you’re seeing here. So it’s just it sucks because we are in such a state where it’s getting harder and harder to just purchase normal goods and a fun game, a cool game stuff that you really like is now just being way too expensive to even even just play.
And all of these companies have purposely gone through their chances to basically destroy the rental market. So now these people who are now being priced out of games can no longer have a spot to rent them. It sucks. \
I want to celebrate how cool the Nintendo Switch is. I want to celebrate how awesome and cool that Direct is, how amazing all these games look. But when it’s like so many less people now get to play these amazing games because Nintendo among many other companies choose chose to price them out. It is unfortunate. This is the arc of the greedy Nintendo of charging so much more for games than previously that they did before of being unclear about some of their upgrade choices of how much those games cost and selling you a tutorial to their own system. So yeah, that’s that’s Nintendo for the day.
Crunchyroll Awards
ANIME OF THE YEAR
Let’s talk about the anime of the year. Crunchyroll does this every single freaking year and we’re gonna be breaking it down and talking about it. Oh, okay, we’re gonna talk about the anime of the year. Okay, well, Dandadan, I have not finished on Dandadan, but I really liked it. Delicious and Dungeon, I have not seen it yet, but I’ve heard it’s very good. Kaiju No 8, I have not seen the anime, but I have read it. Frieren, I loved Frieren. Solo Leveling, I will be reading it. And Apothecary Diaries, I’ve also heard this is very good, but I have not read or watched it.
I can’t really choose at this point, like Dandadan is very fun, it’s unique, which I really love. I really love Kaiju No 8, but it is more of a twist of a very done genre. As the story follows a character who’s in his mid-30s as a garbage collector, but then he gets suddenly gets a special power and all that stuff? It’s still good, but I’m going to vote for Frieren. It is such an incredibly touching story about learning to spend your time. It’s absolutely beautiful.
Film of the Year
I want to see Look Back, but honestly I want to read it more. This is from Fujimoto, so the goat behind Chainsaw Man and Fire Punch. The only movie I’ve seen out of the nominees is Spy Family Code White, but I won’t vote for it.
Best Continuing Series
We got Bleach, which I will be reading soon. My Hero Season 7, I don’t know what season 7 covers, but I have read all of My Hero. My Hero is at its best towards the end so I’m sure this season is incredible!
I have also read all of Demon Slayer, but I don’t know if the Hashira training arc is the best because the best moment of Demon Slayer is literally the last arc. So I’m very excited for people to finally get to experience the Infinity Castle arc, because it is just 10 out of 10. I’m so excited.
One Piece. Honestly, One Piece has been hitting its stride recently. The new animation style for Egghead is absolutely insane. I would probably vote for One Piece. Spy Family is still Spy Family. You’re going to enjoy it whether or not. Oshi No Ko, I heard great things about it far back when it was manga, and I have heard progressively less cool things as it has gotten future into the story. So I probably won’t read that.
Best New Series
Delicious and Dungeon & Frieren. So the same list for best anime of the year. So I’ll go Frieren for this one.
Best Original Anime
I have not seen any of these. So we’re just gonna hit next.
Best Animation
Once again, mostly of these were from anime of the year. Dandadan’s animation is good so I’ll go with that.
Best Character Design
It’s very funny. I would not count Frieren as best character design. They have really great characters, but I think what’s so cool about Frieren is that the characters are so simplistic and so basic, but that lends itself to the show. So I would not say best character design. I wouldn’t say that for Dandadan either. I mean, some of their monster stuff is really cool, but their main characters, it’s still fine. Demon Slayer, I mean, it’s all the same characters that we’ve seen for the past several years. Honestly, from what I’ve seen of Delicious and Dungeon, those are the most unique looking characters I have seen. So I’m going to say Delicious and Dungeon.
Best Director
The One Piece Fan Letter. I have not seen the The One Piece Fan Letter, but I have seen a lot. When people talk about the best episodes in One Piece, the one name that always pops up is Megumi Ishitani. She has been the goat making some of the best One Piece animation director. And so I have been saving the The One Piece Fan Letter for when I’m really prepared to watch it. And so I believe in her. And also, she just needs to get her credit. I don’t think she’s going to win because, look, people aren’t going to pay attention to the director. They’re going to go, hey, I like this show. I’m going to vote for this show rather than voting for the director. But Megumi Ishitani. Absolutely.
Best Background Art
Absolutely. Best background art. Pluto. Absolutely. Pluto. The fact that Pluto is in here, I didn’t even realize that Pluto was even up for possibly being voted on. Pluto is one of my favorite anime. It would probably be my favorite anime of this year. I don’t even know why it’s here. I watched it in 2024 and I believe it came out in 2023. So I’m not quite sure how it made it here. Either way, if Pluto is in here, I’m voting for Pluto.
If you haven’t seen it, go watch Pluto. Basically, it’s a future about AI. AI robots that were originally built for war that are now being repurposed. There’s a lot of cool stuff with it. It’s just absolutely incredible. Love it. Love it.
Best Romance
I’ve seen Scott Pilgrim and I have seen Ranma 1/2. I love Ranma 1/2, the manga and the original anime. I am not a fan of this new remake and it’s not because the new remake is bad. It just doesn’t feel like the Ranma 1/2 I grew up with. And it’s an old man kind of thing to say, but I watched the English dub of Ranma 1/2 back in the day. That dub is bad. A lot of the characters are putting on fake Chinese accents when Chinese characters show up. It’s real bad.
However, I grew up with it & it has stuck with me. I remember quotes from it. So when I watched the English dub of the new Ranma 1/2. I struggle that these characters are not the same ones I grew up with & since I didn’t grow up listening to the Japanese version. I feel the same way.
Also not a fan of the music, Ranma 1/2 had a very unique 80s, 90s music. You knew when this was a goofy or action or dramatic music track, but in this remake. The music is boring. It’s just background music to be background music. That being said, the animation is absolutely incredible, but no votes here.
Best Comedy
I heard good things about My Deer Friend Nokotan, but I’ve not seen any of these to the point where I’d vote on it.
Best Action
I have heard great things about Solo Leveling & I plan to read it so I’m trusting Solo Leveling fans that they aren’t lying so I’ll vote for it.
Best Isekai
I dislike Isekai a lot, but it’s very funny because there are three of these that I love so much. I love Re: Zero, I love Shangri-La Frontier and I love Mushoku Tensei.
I haven’t seen season 3 of Re: Zero, but one of my favorite new shows is Shangri-La Frontier, which I started to read the manga as well. It’s such a fantastic anime. It takes that trope of the guy going into a video like Sword Art Online style, but instead of being trapped inside the game.
It’s just a guy who used to play trash games and deciding to try the most popular game in the world & just be the absolute best at it. He utilizes all his skills at exploiting games & understand what developers do in trash games to excel in Shangri-La Frontier, the name of the game.
It really feels like the writers and the mangaka really cared about, game mechanics in this world of Shangri-La Frontier. So that’s my vote!
Best Drama
Pluto, absolutely. There’s no doubt about it.
Best Slice of Life
I have not seen any of these.
Best Main Character
It’s tough to say that Frieren is the best main character because she is intentionally built as a flawed character. We are still going through her story of growth and progression. And so I feel like she hasn’t gotten to this status yet, but I guess at the same time, it is awesome to see a flawed character.
Kafka, I’m trying to think, because he is the main character of Kaiju No 8, but I don’t remember much about his personality.
Momo and Okarun. It’s weird because them individually, no, but them together, yes. Sung Jinwoo from Solo Leveling, maybe? From what I heard, all he does is main character energy. So I’ll give him that.
Best Supporting Character
Himmel should be up here. He is the whole reason Frieren’s doing all of this.
Must Protect At All Cost
Frieren can handle herself. And this award is really just for Anya. So we’ll just skip.
Best Anime Song
Creepy Nuts. Yes, yes, absolutely. Dandadan.
Best Score
Frieren, absolutely.
Best Opening Sequence
I love One Piece, but Dandadan was so good.
Best Ending Sequence
I’m going to skip, I don’t remember any of these.
Best VA ENG
I’m going to say Aleks Le. He was already making memes of him being Jinwoo and saying Arise. So I’m just voting for Aleks Le.
Orb: On the Movements of the Earth
They have missed the one show. Let’s talk about the real best anime of this year. Orb: On the Movements of the Earth. This freaking show is absolutely incredible. This has the best theme song of the year. The best music. The best drama.
I highly recommend people watch Orb. Unfortunately, it does not have an English dub so it does lose out on a massive audience.
Orb takes place in Poland. It is a fictional story that is based on real world events, just not like directly tied, but it’s basically about the pursuit of knowledge and the transfer of knowledge when it comes to teaching the world about heliocentrism. It tells such a fabulous story. So many amazing moments. It’s serious. It’s dramatic, but it has a really awesome message about the passage of knowledge.
It has been one of the reasons why I have been making posts like these where I am trying to compile my thoughts into text & preserve as much as I can about myself. This show encouraged me to pass on that knowledge.
I’m really happy that Netflix took the risk to make the show happen so congrats to Orb for existing!
