- Resident Evil 4: Why is an almost 10 year old game on this list? Because it came out on PC in 2014 and Resident Evil 4 is still a incredibly fantastic game!!
- Bayonetta 2: Bayonetta 2 is grand and ridiculous from top to bottom.
- Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor: Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is fun. The game is basically an Uruk killing simulator. The main goal of the game is killing high ranking uruks.
- Super Smash Bros. for Wii U: The game truly shines in it’s 8-player smash mode. I love it when Smash gets crazy and my god is 8-player smash absolutely ridiculous.
- Luftrausers: Luftrausers is simple. It’s fun. It sounds so good. The game does a great job at pushing me to experiment with all the different weapons, hulls, and engines by adding challenges to each part. There’s not much more I can say about Luftrausers, it’s a fantastic shoot’em up and everyone should play it.
- Dark Souls II: Dark Souls 2 shares a lot in common with the original and although it was not as strong as Dark Souls or Demon’s Souls. It’s still an incredibly good game. The shit ton of bosses in Dark Souls 2, the introduction of life gems, and a dual-wielding system were all welcome additions to DS2. I invested over 300 hours of my life to this game. So if there’s a game I spent the most time on this year. Dark Souls 2 is a clear winner by a far.
- Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes: Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes could be seen as a short paid teaser for the Phantom Pain and to a certain extent I would agree, but I still really enjoyed my time with Ground Zeroes. Ground Zeroes takes place in a small military base full of fun things to do so in other words it’s a playground to mess around in. I had so much fun causing mayhem and doing other really dumb stuff that I had to put this on my list because it’s put a pretty little smile on my face.
- Shovel Knight: Shovel Knight is an absolutely charming game. The visuals are straight from the NES color palette. The writings is playful and humorous. The chiptune music is such a delight to listen to. And the difficulty adds just the right amount of challenge to game. Shovel Knight isn’t just a built on people’s nostalgia. It’s legitmentatly an amazing game that suprasses a lot of games it’s making homages to. Shovel Knight is an amazing game regardless of whether you played NES & SNES games growing up.
- Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance: Metal Gear Rising: Revengence is ridiculous…you fight a Metal Gear in the first few minutes of playing the game and that’s not even close to shit that happens later. OH MY GOD!! Revengence is so fucking crazy and amazing. I had such a blast just slicing dudes up and calling up a cyborg dog. Man, that dog is really deep.
- Wolfenstein: The New Order: Wolfenstein: The New Order was a game I had no interest in playing, but once I started listening to the music sung by the game’s fictional bands, which are based off our classic bands such as “The Beach Boys” and “The Beetles,” I immediately fell in love with the world the game was building and the more i played of Wolfenstein the more I fell in love with it. Not to mention the actually first person shooting is really fun and basically all you need to do is kill everyone.
List originally on Giant Bomb.
